The Collaboration
The CRNY collaboration enabled BronxNet to continue its commitment to amplifying the voices of the Bronx while elevating the talent of artists Kobina de Graft Johnson, Jon Frier, Ana ‘Rokafella’ Garcia, Alba Garcia, Trish Gianakis, Marthalicia Matarrita, Kervin Peralta, Paola Poucel, Willie Roberts, and Jasmine White. From time-traveling environmentally conscious puppets from Kervin, Paola, and Alba in “ECOLeaders” to original stories from first generation Ghanaian Americans in “#STRESSED,” produced by Kobina and Jasmine, BronxNet raised the visibility of its young audiences. Public service announcements featuring stop motion animation led by Jon, with the character Petie-the-Pigeon, are now featured on the Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit website, advancing digital equity. Hip-hop is alive at BronxNet with “Kwik2Rok,” engaging hip-hop legends, dancers and artists, led by Ana. “Random Acts of Art” showcased pop-up artists in action, taking art to the streets in the Bronx and creating art as a community. And lastly, immersive media and game development advanced at the BronxNet Media + Technology studios in the South Bronx. Many of these shows featured 3D world-building, including the launch of an original competitive sports video game “VALLA” led by Willie. All shows can be streamed on the BronxNet website.
