Samantha Jacobs
Samantha Jacobs is affiliated with the Seneca Nation of Indians-Cattaraugus Territory. She works in diverse arts, including beadwork, tufting, traditional clothing, and jewelry. She originally learned from her mother as a child and was part of a dance troupe called the Buffalo Creek Dancers. When she outgrew her outfits, she sewed new ones.
As an adult, she has committed her time to learning new forms to enhance and compliment her traditional crafting. She likes to make items that tell a story and reflect the nature around her; she’ll bead a pretty flower she sees outside her window or some coral she saw on vacation. She loves to listen to audiobooks, so she can work with her hands while enjoying a good story. She usually make pieces at home until she heads to the local Heritage Center in the evening, where she and her mother host weekly bead and craft classes. She insists that anyone who takes her class then teaches someone else, so that art keeps thriving. She has learned that it’s her responsibility to pass what she knows to others.
