Janna Stephens (a.k.a. Janna Shai) is a photographer / visual storyteller based out of Syracuse, as well as the surrounding areas such as the Fingerlakes Region, Central NY and the Tristate area. As a photographer, artist, and overall human being, her primary objective is to empower the people she photographs, making sure they feel important, confident, and radiant! She is captivated by genuine emotions and finds immense joy in capturing those moments that bring happiness to people’s faces. She also strives to shed light on social injustice, empowerment, and excellence within the black community, as these are crucial subjects that resonate deeply with her as a black woman. Her personal experiences navigating this challenging, critical, and often unkind society have instilled in her a strong sense of duty to ensure that everyone feels beautiful. Given the prevailing beauty standards imposed on both men and women today, it is vital that everyone feels comfortable and confident in their own skin.
