Erika Gregorio Lopez
Erika Gregorio Lopez is a Peruvian-American filmmaker extensively interested in documenting social topics. After college in 2018, Erika started working for CUNY TV, where she worked as a camerawoman before becoming an assigned editor for a TV show. Eventually, she pivoted into co-producing and produced her own segments for shows such as “Nueva York” and “I Am a Dreamer.” Erika won two Emmy awards in 2021 and 2022.
Having experienced firsthand the challenges of immigrating to a new country at the age of 10, Erika believes capturing and sharing personal narratives will help immigrant communities feel proud of their own stories, and for others to empathize with their realities. In 2023, she launched Migrant Nation Reel Stories, showcasing migrant stories from New York City through a collaboration with the Museum of the Moving Image and Creatives Rebuild New York.
Erika holds a BFA in Communications from Kean University and an MFA from Brooklyn College.
